Midway International Airport Concourse Concessions
Midway International Airport has long operated in the shadow its larger sibling in the northwest suburbs, O’Hare. But recent decades have seen a substantial expansion of operations and amenities at Chicago’s original airport. UrbanWorks contributed to the airport’s latest modernization program that updates the retail, concessions, and public areas of the building. The current effort totals 1.23 million square feet.
Working within the tight constraints of the existing structure, UrbanWorks’ bright palette and efficient organization of the renovated areas provides travelers with a more pleasant environment as they wait for their flights. The scope of work included the design and construction of 15 concessions, done as consulting architect with APMonarch, prime architect Gensler Chicago, Consulting Engineers, Midway Partners, and the Chicago Department of Aviation.
