Learning Academy Renovation Concept
Extensive glazing and a green roof help define this 48,628 square-feet renovation of a former Chicago Public School structure as a new community center in the city’s Little Village neighborhood. The reimagined building will house offices for Enlace, a Gads Hill Childcare Center, and an Instituto Del Progreso Latino High School. These varied community-based entities come together in a series of new shared facilities that include a public café, art gallery, auditorium and classroom space.
UrbanWorks was one of only four firms selected to compete for the design of this adaptive reuse project.
