DENCO Office
A raw, 6,000-square-feet loft space in Chicago’s West Loop provided the framework—and inspiration—for DENCO’s headquarters. New interventions solve the firm’s functional needs while exposing as much of the heavy timber structure as possible. An existing two-story open metal stair is maintained and helps distribute natural light throughout the space. An abundant use of glass partitions allows this light to reach interior spaces while showcasing the existing industrial construction. Gypsum board suspended ceilings provide specific areas, such as the conference room, with recessed light fixtures and a more intimate character that facilitates interaction.
