Chicago Housing Authority: Reinventing Neighborhoods
The City of Chicago boldly embarked upon a master plan to strategically redefine the image of its public housing system. The Plan for Transformation is a program for rebuilding and modernizing the Chicago Housing Authority, the nation’s 3rd largest housing authority, by demonstrably realizing positive changes in the design excellence and urban innovation of its developments. The Plan calls for 25,000 units of housing to be constructed or rehabbed. UrbanWorks has had a dynamic role in the transformation plan on the projects shown on the map. UrbanWorks has served as design architects, architect of record, master planner, and community engagement facilitators for over nine mixed-income housing developments which included renovations and new construction.
