Adaptive Reuse Projects
Veterans Memorial Campus at Archer Heights
Former industrial structure repurposed as a school campus – two elementary schools and a high school. Extensive green elements provide spaces that promote good health through sustainable technologies. This school campus is certified LEED Gold, writing a new chapter for education and the environment.
DENCO office
Former residence repurposed as office space. Existing stair was salvaged in the adaptive reuse and helps filter natural light into the space. The design exposes much of the heavy timber structure, introducing acoustical treatment in sensitive areas to facilitate interaction.
UIC SES Learning Center
Former library space for Math and Science department repurposed as a learning center. The existing dark and grey interior spaces are revitalized with vibrant colored acoustic panels on walls and ceiling for added acoustic as well as aesthetics.
PWC Latino Youth High School
Former abandoned Police Station in Pilsen is proposed to host a high school for Latino youth. Energy modeling helped improve indoor environmental quality and reduce energy usage index. The project currently is in the process of achieving LEED Gold certification.
