UrbanWorks’ La Casa Student Housing project was featured as part of a Chicago Architect Magazine profile on the work and legacy of Richard H. Driehaus, the recipient of the 2015 AIA Chicago Lifetime Achievement Award. Driehaus, a philanthropist known for his work in historic preservation as well as promoting quality design for underserved communities, has shown his support for “projects that make ‘a significant contribution to the social, visual and cultural life of their neighborhoods through quality of design’” through competitions and awards such as the Richard H. Driehaus Foundation Award for Architectural Excellence in Community Design. This award is given annually to three projects located in the Chicago-area, and UrbanWorks has received a First Place Award for our work on Veterans Memorial Campus at Archer Heights in 2011, and most recently for La Casa Student Housing in 2013.
