Chicago 2016 Bid for the 2016 Olympic Games
UrbanWorks, along with three other internationally recognized design firms, collaborated on Chicago’s bid to host the 2016 Olympic Games. Master planning focused on a variety of venues across the city that would place new facilities within existing neighborhood and lakefront parks to showcase Chicago while providing legacy facilities for local communities.
Sustainability was a keynote feature, using existing or temporary facilities whenever feasible. Transportation between venues was maximized using existing and carefully planned new infrastructure to maximum benefit. Innovative environmental initiatives included carbon neutral developments and careful water stewardship.
