The Maria Elena Apartments
Named after a pivotal figure in Chicago’s Albany Park, this six story building, clad in brick and multi-hued metal paneling, provides much needed affordable housing for the neighborhood. After an in depth planning process, hand-in-hand with the community, UrbanWorks designed the Maria Elena apartments with commercial space on the ground floor, and 20 one-bedroom, 25 two-bedroom, and 5 three-bedroom units spread through the upper levels. Exterior improvements include parking, EV stations, bike racks, a green wall, and murals which will be installed on the east and west facades of the building in the near future. Interior amenities include sleek modern fixtures, color coded corridors and elevator vestibules, and a lobby featuring the work of local artists.
